We love what we do and our people!
Our quality of service operation was becoming well-known and work was literally pouring in. To cope with the demand, WGL purchased two further Plaxton Paramount bodied Leyland Tigers, IIL 4005 and JIL 5289 (which was reregistered TFO 319). Due to the increase in scholar numbers, the 12 seat Sherpa was replaced with WGL’s first Mercedes, a 21-seat van conversion SJI 4783 which came from Hayle Taxis, and the Sherpa became an ancillary vehicle.
A 16-seat Ford Transit F73 FUS joined the fleet soon after for an additional school contract.
Great Reputation Largest Minibus!
The new routes and reputation for excellent reliability and customer service gave WGL a rapid growth in passengers. As a result, an additional route 598 was introduced between St Eval and Truro to provide additional capacity between St Columb Major and Truro. The vehicle for this service, a Reeve Burgess 25 seat Mercedes 709, E301 BWL came from Carmel Coaches in Northlew, Devon, but was soon ousted by a Reeve Burgess 33 seat Mercedes 811, G896 TGG – the largest capacity minibus.
